Spray Painted Glass

Create fun Halloween candy jars by using spray paint and foam stickers!

What you will need:

Multi purpose Spray Paint
Foam stickers (dollartree)
Glass Jars (dollartree or recycled)
Poster Board or Newspaper

Instructions:

Add stickers to glass in a pattern or randomly all over. Secure stickers my pressing down on the edges. After glass is covered, place glass upside down on poster board outside. Spray glass until jars are completely covered. Allow paint to dry overnight. Once paint has dried, carefully remove foam stickers. You should now have a pattern on your glass! Fill jars with candy or tea light candles.

SPRING DECOR FOR ONLY $1!

Create simple spring decor!

What you will need:

Artificial Flowers from Dollartree (I purchased 3)
Recycled Jars/Alcohol Bottles
Acrylic Paint or Food Coloring
Paint Brush
Scissors
Ribbon (optional)
Water

Instructions:

Clean bottles and remove labels w/hot soapy water. Match acrylic paint to match the petals of flowers. The best paint to use is cheap paint! Try not to use the pricey stuff, it's all I had =(

Fill bottles with water. Apply paint to brush and dab before adding to bottle. Too much paint can cause globs in the water! Place lid and shake until paint has mostly dissolved. Remove lid and allow colored water to settle. Cut flowers to desired lengths and arrange to matching bottles like so.

Mod Podge Mirror

Magically transform any dollar store mirror with this simple tutorial!

What you will Need:

Old Calendar, but you can use magazine cutouts
Scrap Booking Paper or Wrapping Paper
Tacky Glue
Mod podge
Mirror from dollar store

Instructions:

Place mirror over calendar, trace & cut. Next place mirror over scrap paper, trace & cut.

Cover back of mirror with tacky glue. Place scrap book paper over tacky glue, pressing evenly to avoid creases or bubbles (the thinner the paper, the more likely you will have air pockets). Allow to dry and coat with a layer of mod podge. Apply another coat as soon as the first coat has dried. Place calendar cut out or magazine cutout onto the 2nd layer of wet pod podge. Allow to dry, apply a 3rd coat over entire surface to seal in the calendar cutout.

Delicate Floating Heart Earrings

Why yes, Valentines Day is next month. LOVE it or HATE it, hopefully you will still enjoy this tutorial =)

What you will need:

Heart hole puncher (JoAnn Fabrics, under $5)
Construction paper (DollarTree) OR Scrap Booking paper (JoAnn Fabrics)
String ( I used sewing thread)
Fish Hook Earrings (JoAnn Fabrics)
Tacky Glue
Scissors

Instructions:

Hole punch 16 hearts (makes 4 hearts for each earring). Cut string to desired length, leaving slack at the top to attach the fish hook earring last. Apply a dot of tacky glue to one heart and place the end of string onto it. "Sandwich" your heart with another heart to secure both hearts and string. Repeat steps 3 more times, until you have a string of 4 hearts. You may use as many hearts, depending on desired length, just be sure to space them evenly apart. You can use a ruler, I used my best judgment and used the first finished string of hearts as a model for the second string of hearts. After your hearts have dried, whole punch 2 additional hearts. Loop string through hook earring and place the end of string onto the first top heart. Apply a dot of glue and sandwich with another heart to secure.

New Year Starburst Ornament

What you will need:

Bamboo Skewers (Walmart $1.50 100ct)
Glitter
Gold Spray Paint or Acrylic Paint (Spray is quicker)
Glue Gun
Mod Podge
Printer
2 Circular Wood Chips (Joann Fabrics .29 ea)
Ribbon
Tacky Glue

Instructions:

Cut 4 skewers evenly into smaller sticks. Spray paint skewer sticks/circular wood pieces and allow to dry. Create New Year wording in paint or GIMP and print to paper. It may take a few times of resizing to get it right, but the wording should be smaller than your circle. You may also cut letters from magazines if you do not own a printer. Next, take your printed paper and trace around the circle. Cut circle and fix to wood by applying mod podge.

After mod podge has completely dried, punch a hole in top for your ribbon later on (I used a leather puncher). Next, arrange skewer sticks and hot glue 1 of 2 circular wood pieces. As soon as all skewers are glued into place, apply more glue and seal with the other circular wood piece. The skewers should be securely "sandwiched" between both circular wood pieces. Dip tips of skewers into mod podge, then into glitter. Shake excess glitter to avoid a mess. Use tacky glue and trace around the circle, apply glitter and shake.

Allow glue to dry overnight and string with ribbon. A useful tip to dry crafts safely: set craft on a glass cup to avoid sticking to a flat surface.

DIY Halloweenie-Xmas Ornaments

I know it's not Halloween but what to do with all of the Halloween remnants? If you're an admirer of Tim Burton and The Nightmare Before Christmas, surely you will admire having pieces of Halloween on your Christmas tree!

What you will need:

Leftover Halloween Spider/Bat rings
Clear Plastic Ornaments (JoAnn Fabrics)
Glitter (DollarTree)
Spray Paint (Gold OR Silver)
Glue Gun
Small piece foil
Xmas Ribbon (optional)
String or Hooks

Instructions:

Cut ring portion from spider. Spray paint toys front & back until completely covered. I like to use a poster board from the dollar store to avoid getting spray paint on the ground.

After your paint has dried, squeeze the spider into the plastic ornament. This will only work if the spider is flexible, the thinner the plastic the better. Roll a piece of paper into a cone shape and secure with tape. Place your paper in the ornament to use as a funnel for the glitter. Add desired amount of glitter and arrange spider & glitter with a Q-tip if needed. If you have an ornament with a hole on top as pictured, glue a piece of foil and seal with a hot glue gun. This will prevent glitter from leaking out of your ornament, especially after the holidays when moved to storage. Now you are finished! Add christmas ribbon if desired, hang with a string or hook.
